The Word “Darshana” as used in Indian philosophy has been mostly misunderstood and meaning is lost in translation. In English it has been mostly translated as Revelation. The Sages were Called “Darshanika” ‘s and it is translated as God “Revealed” Secret Knowledge to the Sages
This does not provide adequate support to understand why God Revealed the Information to the Sages?? What made them the Chosen Ones?? Was a One-time revelation enough for them to understand, whatever was revealed (God of-course did not give them a Printed Document).
“Epiphany” is a More Appropriate Word here. You can have an Epiphany (or Sudden Insight) about a problem, Only with Adequate Combination of Prior Knowledge with Extended Periods of Deep Contemplation. Only then an Eureka moment can happen.
In those days The Sages or Daarshanika’s had all the time at their disposal to contemplate on Philosophical problems for years together. And were well conditioned to receive such Darshana’s or insights
With control over thoughts and much less distractions they could have such Epiphanous Moments of Insights more frequently and at Will
That would explain why those Sages were Chosen for God’s Revelations.
